Day 1 : Arrive Tokyo

Arrive Tokyo Narita or Haneda Airport, exchange your voucher for the 14-day Rail Pass, and use the Rail Pass to travel into central Tokyo.

Day 2 : Tokyo - Sendai

Use the Japan Rail Pass to travel to Sendai on the Bullet train (approx 1hr 40mins).

Stay 2 nights.

Day 3 : Sendai

Full day free. Why not visit make a day trip to nearby Matsushima.

Day 4 : Sendai - Nyuto Onsen

Use the Japan Rail Pass to travel to Nyuto Onsen. From Sendai take the Akita Shinkansen (Bullet train) to Tazawako, then bus to Nyuto Onsen (approx 2hrs total).

Stay 1 night.

Day 5 : Nyuto Onsen - Kakunodate

Use the Japan Rail Pass to travel to Kakunodate.

Stay 1 night.

Day 6 : Kakunodate - Hakone

Travel to Hakone. Take the Bullet train to Odawara, then use the Hakone Free Pass to access the area of the Fuji-Hakone National Park.

Stay 2 nights.

Day 7 : Hakone

Full day to explore the Fuji-Haokne NAtional Park and the “Fuji Five Lakes” area using your Hakone Free Pass.

Day 8 : Hakone - Kyoto

Travel to Kyoto. Use the Hakone Free Pass on the local train (Odakyu line) to Odawara, then take the Bullet train to Kyoto.

Stay 3 nights.

Day 9 : Kyoto

Full day to explore this historic city.

Day 11 : Kyoto - Hiroshima

Use your Japan Rail Pass to travel to Hiroshima by Bullet train, direct or via Shin-Kobe (approx 2.5 hrs).

Stay 2 nights.

Day 12 : Hiroshima / Miyajima

Full day free to explore Hiroshima with its Peace Park and Peace Museum, and the nearby island of Miyajima with the Itsukushima Shrine.

Day 13 : Hiroshima - Nagasaki

Travel to Nagasaki using the Japan Rail Pass. Take the Bullet train, changing at Hakata (Fukuoka).

Stay 1 night.

Day 14 : Nagasaki - Kumamoto

Travel to Kumamoto using the Japan Rail Pass. Take the Express train “Kamome” to Tosu, then JR Kyushu’s “Sakura” Bullet train to Kukamoto.

Stay 1 night.

Day 15 : Kumamoto - Osaka (KIX)

After spending the morning exploring Kumamoto, use the Japan Rail Pass to travel to Osaka. Take the “Sakura” Bullet train to Shin-Osaka station, then the local Express to Kansai International Airport (KIX).

Stay 1 night at an airport hotel.

Day 16 : Depart Osaka

After breakfast, transfer to airport for departure.
