Day 1 : Arrive Tokyo

Arrive Tokyo Narita or Haneda Airport, exchange your voucher for the 14-day Rail Pass, and use the Rail Pass to travel into central Tokyo.

Day 4 : Tokyo - Hakone

Travel to Hakone: use the Japan Rail Pass to travel by Bullet train to Odawara, then use your Hakone Free Pass to take the local Odakyu train into the Fuji-Hakone National Park, to reach your hotel in Hakone.

Day 5 : Hakone

Use your Hakone Free Pass to discover the “Fuji Five Lakes” area.

Day 6 : Hakone - Matsumoto

Travel to Matsumoto, via Shinjuku station on Tokyo.

Day 7 : Matsumoto

Full day free to explore this charming town.

Day 8 : Matsumoto - Takayama

Travel to Takayama, using your Japan Rail Pass to take the train via Nagano and Toyama.

Stay 2 nights at a ryokan (Japanese inn) including Japanese diner and breakfast.

Day 9 : Takayama

Full day to explore the country town of Takayama, with its traditional buildings.

Day 10 : Takayama - Kanazawa

Travel to Kanazawa: take the JR Express “Wide View Hida” to Toyama and the the Bullet train to Kanazawa.

Stay 2 nights.

Day 11 : Kanazawa

Explore the castle town of Kanazawa, and take an excursion by bus to Shirakawa-go, with its traditional farmhouses.

Day 12 : Kanazawa - Kyoto

Travel to Kyoto, just two hours away on JR’s “Thunderbird” Limited Express train.

Stay 3 nights.

Day 13 : Kyoto

Full day free to explore the historic city of Kyoto.

Day 14 : Kyoto

Full day free to explore the historic city of Kyoto.

Day 15 : Kyoto - Hiroshima

Use your Japan Rail Pass to travel to Hiroshima by Bullet train, direct or via Shin-Kobe (approx 2.5 hrs).

Stay 2 nights.

Day 16 : Hiroshima

Full day free to explore Hiroshima with its Peace Park and Peace Museum, and the nearby island of Miyajima with the Itsukushima Shrine.

Day 17 : Hiroshima - Osaka

After spending the morning exploring Hiroshima, use the Japan Rail Pass to travel to Osaka. Take the “Sakura” Bullet train to Shin-Osaka station, then the local Express to Kansai International Airport (KIX).

Stay 1 night at an airport hotel.

Day 18 : Depart Osaka

After breakfast, transfer to airport for departure.
