The hotel is located on the gateway to Tsumago, which was a post town on the Nakasendo route between Kyoto and Edo. It is known today as one of the best-preserved post towns in Japan. The hotel offers Japan's largest hot spring bathing facility with the most water capacity. There are four baths - one inside and three outside.
