Why not visit Okinawa as an extension of your Japan trip? This self-guided tour allows you to experience the attractions of the main island of Okinawa as well as the smaller and scenic Kerama Islands.
As a separate kingdom for centuries, this group of islands off the southern tip of mainland Japan developed a unique collection of handicrafts, architecture and cuisine, heavily influenced by both China and Japan. Okinawa retains a distinct atmosphere and culture to this day: the pace of life is more relaxed than on mainland Japan, the atmosphere more that of a tropical resort.
Our tour suggestion is a “two-centre” itinerary, staying first in Naha, the main town of Okinawa island for easy access to nearby Zamami Island by ferry. Then stay at Motobu, a beach area, for total relaxation.

  • Visit Naha, Okinawa’s capital city, where you can visit Shuri Castle and Kokusai Dori
  • Take a ferry to Zamami Island, one of the Kerama Islands, which is perfect for diving and snorkelling
  • Travel to Cape Manza, with its emerald sea full of coral fringed by beautiful coastland
  • See Okinawa’s Churaumi Aquarium, which is one of the largest aquariums in the world and part of the large Ocean Expo Park
