Regional Passes

The rail passes offered by each regional JR company in Japan are very good value if you plan to spend time travelling around in a restricted area: they are of course cheaper than the nationwide pass, have shorter periods of validity and often more flexible conditions.
They are for foreign tourist visitors to Japan only. Some of the regional passes are on sale in Japan, as well as overseas, but none are available to Japanese nationals.

Those called “Tourist Pass” can be used not only on trains but also on other modes of transport in the area and on the routes specified.

Choose from the areas of Japan and passes shown below, and click through to see details and prices and to buy online.
