Journey to the Shizuoka-side of Mt. Fuji, where you can taste freshly-picked tea and seafood whilst visiting the jewels of the area’s past.

Travel in style on the Shinkansen with its spacious seats to Shizuoka from Tokyo. Watch daily life go by in Japan’s most prominent tea plantations to Suruga Bay bordering the Pacific ocean from the top of Nihondaira. Sample hand-picked tea from nearby tea plantations at Nihondaira Ocha Kaikan that look out onto Mt. Fuji and Suruga Bay.

Enter the Kunozan Toshogu Shrine, dedicated to the famous Tokugawa Ieyasu. Second in importance to the Toshogu Shrine in Nikko, visit its main hall which is a national treasure. Taste freshly prepared sushi made from recently caught fish of Suruga Bay before see the Tokaido Hiroshige Museum on the old Tokaido road post town of Yui-shuku. Enjoy the artwork that was created by Utagawa Hiroshige at the museum.

Finish the day with a Mt. Fuji panoramic view from its 2nd station at an altitude of 1,500 meters.

Arrive at the pick-up point before departing for Shizuoka station via  Tokyo station on the Hikari or Kodama Shinkansen.

10:20 Shizuoka Station

Arrive at Shizuoka station and board a bus to the Nihondaira

Nihondaira Ropeway

Board the ropeway up to the Kunozan Toshogu Shrine. While you are ascending the 1,065 metre long ropeway, be treated to a beautiful view of Suruga Bay.

Kunozan Toshogu Shrine (30 mins)

Visit the shrine dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, an Edo period shogun. Wander through the main hall, Ishi-no-ma, and the worship hall, both which are national treasures.

Nihondaira Ropeway

Journey to the tea plantation which looks out onto Mt. Fuji and Suruga Bay. You can taste-test the freshly-picked Japanese tea and purchase it.

Shimizu (50 mins)

Have a Japanese sushi lunch of freshly-caught fish from Tsuruga Bay.

Shizuoka City Tokaido Hiroshige Museum of Art (30 min)

Be guided through Utagawa Hiroshige’s ukiyo-e woodblock print art of the art museum that is located in the post-town of Yui-shuku. A  former station along the Tokaido road that was the major route from Tokyo to Kyoto from the Edo period, enjoy the merging of modernity and history.

Mt. Fuji 2nd Station (15 mins)

Enjoy a spectacular view from an altitude of 1,500 metres.

Mishima Station

Descend the mountain and board a bullet train to Tokyo station.

Tokyo Station

Arrive back at Tokyo station at approximately 19:00. Make your own way back to your hotel or to another destination.
